Soulèvement

Soulèvement takes place at a Mylène Farmer concert, on a catwalk or a boxing ring. The stage becomes a tribune: a place where people meet, a democratic symbol, popular and urban. In this solo, Tatiana Julien got her inspiration from the videogame Fortnite, contemporary dance gimmicks, and the biggest archetypes of rebellious words and bodies. Génération désenchantée. Tatiana Julien’s dance is very physical, and stems from urban and post-internet movements (house, voguing, krumping, etc.), nightlife as a form of resistance, combat sports and revolutionary contemporary dance: Rite by Pina Bausch and Mary Wigman’s The Witch’s dance. A cry for rebellion? A call for subversion? Surrender to the oppression of entertaining? With an untamed brio, Soulèvement questions the porous zones between arts, revolutions and conformism.
